Setup a Blast with BlastHero: Step by Step

The purpose of this document is to help you understand how to setup a blast with BlastHero. It will provide you with the tools and skills needed to setup a blast.

  1. Getting Started
    After logging into the BlastHero Blast Center (http://www.blasthero.com/login.html) you'll want to click on the Campaigns link.


  2. Create a New Campaign
    Click on the Create a New Campaign link.


  3. Enter a Campaign Name
    This is for your reference, no one but you will see it. Then click Create.


  4. Select a Schedule
    From the schedule drop down select Deliver at the given time and then enter in the date and time you would like the blast to send. We recommend sending during the night, so people will get the e-mail in the morning. Also, good days to send e-mail are Monday afternoon through Friday morning. We recommending setting the schedule AFTER building and previewing the blast (You can set the schedule later on).


  5. Select a Time Zone
    This should already be set for you, but if it's not, choose a time zone.

  6. Select a List to send to.
    Odds are you will only have one list ('Company Name'Distributor List) but you'll still need to select it . You can select more than one list by holding CTRL (Control) on your keyboard and selecting multiple lists.


  7. Save and go to e-mail settings
    Click the save button to continue.


  8. E-Mail Settings
    The next screen will allow you to select an e-mail. An e-mail can be used over and over again (where as a campaign must be setup every time, an e-mail, or the actual content of the blast, can be reused). Since we are starting fresh, select Create a new e-mail. In the future you'll be able to select an old e-mail or copy an e-mail you've already created and edit it.


  9. Name your e-mail
    Setup a name for your e-mail. This is for your reference.


  10. Enter from and reply to addresses
    Enter your company name in the From box. For the e-mail address we recommend noreply@suppliermail.net. You're welcome to use your own address but note that you can get several thousand e-mails back (people on vacation, full inboxes, etc, will all be e-mailed to you). Do the same for the reply-to box.


  11. Click on the "Layout" link
    Proceed to the next step by clicking on Layout


  12. Template Selection
    You'll see a huge selection of templates. You're more than welcome to use any one you see, but we HIGHLY recommend you use the Supplier Mailing template. This one has been used for years and works very well. Simply click on it to select it. Note that changing templates will delete any content you have entered in on the "content" tab.


  13. Click on the "Content" link
    Proceed to the next step by clicking on Content


  14. Enter a Subject
    Enter a descriptive subject for your marketing piece. Don't use yelling (all caps) or lots of exclamation points (!!!) in your subject.


  15. Upload your artwork
    Select the line of text "Body of e-mail - Delete this text and insert image here" and then click on the Insert Image button.


  16. Browse for Artwork
    Click on the Browse button to open up the Media Library.


  17. Browse your Computer
    Click on the browse button and locate the artwork on your computer (Recommended specs: under 500px wide, 72DPI JPEG format, under 150k filesize).


  18. Locate the artwork
    Once you find the proper file click on "Open" and then Upload


  19. Insert artwork
    After your artwork is uploaded please click on the artwork's name to insert it.


  20. Description and Insert
    Enter a Description for your image (just in case people can't see it) and click on Insert


  21. Link the image to your website
    Click on the image to highlight it and click the Link button


  22. Website link and insert
    Type your website's address and click Insert


  23. Don't change other text
    Leave the text at the top and bottom of the blast alone. It is system generated and must be there for your blast to function properly. Note anything with % signs around it will automatically generate when the blast is sent.





  24. Preview your blast
    Click on the Preview button.


  25. Preview and Spam Report
    The preview area allows you to enter your e-mail address and send yourself a preview of what it would look like. You can also view the e-mail in your browser, or generate a spam report.


  26. Save e-mail
    When done, click Save and Close or to cancel your changes click Cancel


  27. Save Campaign
    The final step is to hit Save email settings and go to campaign statistics. This step is REQUIRED, it verifies you are happy with your e-mail and enables the blast to send.


  28. Campaign Statistics
    Once the campaign begins to send you will be able to view statistics from the stats page (refresh the page when the campaign begins sending)
